Rain Doesn't Stop King of The Hill. Pursley and Cummings win Factory Stocks Prelims, Stuckey takes home first Crate Late Model Feature!

GREENWOOD, LA – A summer storm full of lightning and rain delayed the start of the second round of the 8th Annual King of the Hill just as the opening ceremonies were completed on Friday night. After the rain moved out of the area, track crews went to work, and racing was not lost. What followed was an action-packed evening of racing that saw different winners in the Granger Equipment Factory Stocks and a first-time winner in the Frazier Accounting Crate Late Models.

The Friday format for the Granger Equipment Factory Stocks was exactly as Thursday evening. All competitors re-drew at sign in and the entire field was split into 2 groups. Passing Points would set up the B and A main lineups and once completed, the point totals from both nights would be added together and that would determine the lineups going into the Finale on Saturday night.

Group A was won in spectacular fashion by Craig Pursley, Jr., of New Waverly, Texas who led flag-to-flag. Mark Underwood, Jr. found some major speed to close the gap toward the end of the 25 lap Feature but had to settle for 2nd. Two-time King of the Hill, Justin Whitehead moved from the 7th starting row to finish off the podium ahead of defending track champion, Cody Myers and the 2017 King of the Hill, Derick Grigsby.

2021 King of the Hill Kyle Cummings, of Minden dominated the field in Group B feature. JT Garland, would ultimately finish in the runner-up spot, while Peyton Daughtery grabbed the 3rd spot. Ryan Powers and Donald Cain completed the Top 5.

After all the points were calculated, Kyle Cummings is your top qualifier and leads the group of 8 drivers that are locked into Saturday night’s $10,000 To-Win main event. Joining Cummings in the Top 8 are the following: Craig Pursley, Jr., JT Garland, Jason Ingalls, Bubba Jones, Cody Myers, Justin Whitehead, and Taylor Frost. These drivers will redraw and run a Pole Dash to determine the final starting lineup for the first 4 rows.

The Frazier Accounting, Crate Late Models also ran a complete show which resulted in Clayton Stuckey, of Shreveport collecting his first career Feature win. Stuckey, the son of chassis builder Ronnie Stuckey, wheeled his Black Diamond Chassis to victory over Tony Lindsey, David Winslett in 3rd, Garren Lindsey was 4th, and Tim Eaves, Jr. rounded out the Top 5.

The 2nd Annual Billy Melton Memorial also resumed on Friday night with the B Mains to round out Saturday night’s field for the $5,087 To-Win Main Event for the LED4Life Limited Modifieds. The event was postponed on July 2nd due to rain. Ricky Ingalls and Derrick Grigsby each picked up the victories in their respective B Mains.

It all comes to a close on Saturday night! The King of the Hill $10,000 to win Feature race for the Granger Equipment Factory Stocks , along with the $5,087 to win Billy Melton Memorial for the LED 4 Life Limited Modifieds! The Advanced Powder Coating FWD 4-Cylinders will also be on the card. Pit Gates Open at 4 PM, General Admission at 6:30 PM, and Race Time is 8 PM.

General Admission is $20, Kids 6 – 11 $10, Kids 5 and Under are Free, Pit Pass is $35. $10 Cooler Charge and cannot be larger than 48 quarts, no glass.
